Hillsboro Inlet Lighthouse

The Hillsboro Inlet Lighthouse has an octagonal iron pyramidal tower that was built by the Russel Wheel and Foundry in Detroit Michigan in August 1905. The lighthouse stands 132 feet high and the construction is held together with bolts, there are no welds. The] iron piping is held together with 192 special cast iron joints and 80 tension rods with turnbuckles. The light is a bivalve Fresnel lens that emits a light measuring 5.5 megacandelas and is placed 135 feet above sea level.
