An hour before dawn is the best time to capture the uncrowded streets of South Beach along Ocean Drive. The buildings are very colorful and scenic

Night Photography & StarTrails over South Florida

Photos by Lee Smith

We had a clear night over South Florida and we headed out to a favorite spot out in the Everglades. The moon set at 3pm so we did not have to deal with moon light.  The stars were shining brightly and the wind was almost still. We put on bug spray and could still hear the buzzing of mosquitoes and got a few bites.

We set out cameras up to capture the stars and some star trails. Each star trail has about 120 image to make one photo. Each image is about 30 seconds and taken 1 second apart then stacked to create the star trails.
