Mexican Hat Rock Formation

Mexican Hat Rock Formation – The rock, a famed landmark along US 163, rises east of the highway above the west bank of the San Juan River. Mexican Hat is a caprock of sandstone atop a pedestal of red shale. This photo was taken with high winds raging from behind me that started kicking up dust. Glad I got this shot before it really hit.

Forest Gump Point, Mexican Hat, UT

Remember that scene in Forest Gump when he stopped running? This was the spot! Forest Gump Point, Mexican Hat, UT
Side note: This was taken just before a dust storm hit. The dust was so bad, I could not see the half way down that road.
